Their ceramics are sold all over the world, from New York to Tokyo and they've collaborated with
both national and international designers such as Kiki van Eijk and Marc Newson. But are still manufactured in 's-Hertogenbosch, the city where I grew up: Cor Unum ceramics.
Today I got the chance to take a look around in their studio as they had an open door day. It's so beautiful to see the craftsmanship and to see passionate people make ceramics by hand.
What makes their designs so appealing is that their not afraid to give them an edge, by experimenting with color and shape.

Het is zo mooi om het vakmanschap en de gepassioneerde mensen te zien die keramiek met de hand maken. Wat hun ontwerpen zo aantrekkelijk maakt is dat ze niet bang zijn ze een 'edge' te geven door te experimenteren met kleur en vorm.
Who would have thought that the queen of the long blonde whimsical waves would say goodbye to her signature look. As a major fan of her style I was very surprised to see her new (and very cool!) hairstyle. Not once, but three times in one month she visited her hairstylist and BFF Kristin Ess for a chop. See the final result below! With her bob and leather jacket, Lauren Conrad officially changed into a cool girl! Kudos to you Lauren, for being such a cool chick.. and for now, enjoy your bob!

Wie had gedacht dat de koningin van de lange blonde krullen haar 'signature look' vaarwel zou zeggen. Als trouwe fan van haar stijl was ik verrast toen ik haar nieuwe (en zeer coole!) look zag. This week I had my fifteen minutes of fame. I was given the opportunity to style a six page fashion spread for Dutch magazine Libelle which was entirely devoted to students. It was an amazing experience to be in charge and work with talented people. Standing in the supermarket looking at all those wonderful magazines besides "my" Libelle I had an epiphany; this is want I want to do.

Hi!
Deze week had ik mijn "fifteen minutes of fame". Ik heb de kans gekregen een zes pagina modeserie te stylen voor de Libelle die geheel in het teken stond van studenten. Het was een geweldige ervaring de leiding te hebben en te werken met zeer getalenteerde mensen. In de supermarkt kijkend naar al die geweldige bladen naast "mijn" Libelle had ik een openbaring; dit is wat ik wil doen.

Home to Her Majesty the Queen, lazy afternoon teas, fancy department stores and honest British hospitality. It's the city where you can wander around historic streets and museums filled with ancient artifacts, spend your last penny on the latest fashion or relax in one of the big parks on a sunny day.
So much to see, so much to do and so little time!
I got a chance to see London in a whole new way this summer. I went off track, and deliberatelyskipped some of the main attractions that every other tourist visits.
But since I didn't want to be a total barbaric (London has a couple of the best museums the world has to offer), and neither should you, here are a few "must-sees" when you visit London.

Oh, prachtig Londen!
Het is de stad van Hare Majesteit de Koningin, kopjes thee in de namiddag, chique warenhuizen en die echte Briste gastvrijheid. Het is de stad waar je kunt rondlopen door de historische straten en musea gevuld met eeuwenoude topstukken, waar je je laatste cent kunt spenderen aan de laatste mode, of op een zonnige dag relaxen in een van de vele parken.
Zoveel te zien, zoveel te doen en zo weinig tijd!
Ik heb de kans gekregen Londen op een hele andere manier te zien deze zomer. Ik heb bewust een aantal grote bezienswaardigheden die elke andere toerist ook bezoekt overgeslagen. Maar omdat ik niet een totale cultuur barbaar wilde zijn (Londen huisvest een paar van 's werelds beste musea), en ik vind dat jij dat ook niet moet zijn volgen hier een enkele "must-sees" voor je trip naar Londen.
British Museum.
This museum has a great collection of the worlds most amazing treasures. Take a close look at Egyptian mummies, historic jewelry, visit cultural Asia, and wander true their great collection of ceramics from China.
Here you will also find artifacts from members of the Commonwealth.
A well spend afternoon!

British Museum.
Dit museum heeft een grote collectie aan wereldschatten. Neem een kijkje bij de Egyptische mummies, historische juwelen, bezoek cultureel Azië, en loop eens door de grote collectie Chinees keramiek. Ook vind je hier voorwerpen uit landen van het Britse Gemenebest.
Een goed besteedde middag!
(Als je nog iets langer van de magische hal wilt genieten; de scones van het museum café zijn erg lekker!)

Natural history museum.
Dinosaurs, whales, a huge collection of the worlds birds, and a tour around our planet. That is just a small part of what you can find in this wonderful museum. It teaches us that we need to look after our beautiful planet. This summer they have a special exhibition about butterflies set up in a big greenhouse in the front yard of the museum. Where you can walk true hundreds of butterflies. Ask one of the volunteers anything you want to know, they can tell you all about it. For instance: I saw a cocoon moving so I instantly thought it was going to "hatch". But I was told it was just dreaming! So cute.. (when you open the videoclips below you'll see the moving coccoon and a butterfly)

Natural history museum.
Dinosauriers, walvissen, een grote collectie vogels, en een toer langs onze planeet.
Dat is een kleine greep aan schatten die je in dit museum kunt vinden. Het leert ons goed te zorgen voor onze mooie planeet. Deze zomer hebben ze een speciale tentoonstelling over vlinders, opgezet in een grote kas in de voortuin van het museum. Hier kun je tussen honderden vlinders lopen. Vraag een van de vrijwilligers alles wat je wilde weten want zij kunnen je er alles over vertellen.
Klein voorbeeldje: ik zag een cocon bewegen dus ik dacht dat het open zou gaan. Maar er werd mij verteld dat 'ie alleen aan het dromen was! Zo leuk..

Tower exhibition: 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red'
In remembrance of all that lost their lives, ceramic artist Paul Cummins and theatre stage designer Tom Piper created a magnificent installation of ceramic poppies all around the fields of the Tower of London. It was unveiled on 5 August 2014, one hundred years since the first full day of Britain's involvement in the First World War. The scale of the installation intends to reflect the magnitude of such an important centenary. www.britishlegion.org.uk

Tower tentoonstelling: 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red'
Ter herinnering aan allen die vielen hebben keramiek kunstenaar Paul Cummins en stage designer Tom Piper een prachtige installatie van keramische klaprozen gemaakt rondom de Tower of London. Het werd onthuld op 5 augustus 2014 precies 100 jaar na de eerste dag van de Eerste Wereldoorlog. De omvang van de installatie weerspiegelt de omvang van zo'n belangrijke gebeurtenis.

Café Liberty
If you're getting a bit hungry after an afternoon of wandering around London's high streets, go check out the cafe on the second floor of Liberty's department store.
They will delight you with their afternoon tea menu. Very cute, very English. You get your scones with real butter and a real smile!

Honest burgers (soho).
This is where I ate the best fries ever, period. (Their secret: rosemary salt!)
And they serve a beautiful decent homemade burger as well.
Thick juicy beef with loads of fresh ingredients.
Don't get distracted by the hipster lemonade in glass jars, this one is a keeper.
(They opened 7 Honest restaurants in London already)
After you've had a wonderful meal, walk around the old street to find out which historical figures lived there, and look for funny signs on doors ;)!

Dit is waar ik de lekkerste frietjes ooit gegeten heb, punt. (Hun geheim: rozemarijnzout!)
En ook serveren ze een mooie degelijke huisgemaakte burger.
Dik, sappig rundvlees met heel veel verse ingrediënten.
Laat je niet afleiden door de hipster limonade in glazen potjes, dit is een blijvertje.
(Inmiddels zijn er al 7 Honest restaurants geopend in Londen)
Nadat je een lekkere maaltijd heb gehad, loop dan eens door het oude straatje om erachter te komen welke historische figuren er gewoond hebben en let op grappige bordjes op voordeuren.

Anthropologie
I could spend all my time and all my money in this store. Maybe it's a good thing Amsterdam doesn't have an Anthropologie store.. Oh boy, I fell in love! Such a cute store with beautiful fashion, accessories and interior stuff! Must visit for any shop-a-holic when in London.

Ik zou al mijn tijd en geld in deze winkel kunnen besteden. Misschien is het dus maar goed ook dat er geen winkel van Anthropologie in Amsterdam zit. Maar man oh man wat ben ik verliefd geworden! Wat een leuke winkel met mooie mode, accessoires en interieur dingen! Een "must-visit" voor elke shop-a-holic die in Londen is.

I have always been a big fan of the whole H&M brand with stores such as Monki, COS and Weekday.
And since & Other Stories is (finally) opening a store in Amsterdam this fall I checked it out on Regent street in London. Very clean, very sophisticated, very cool!
Ik ben altijd al een groot fan geweest van het hele merk H&M met winkels als Monki, COS, en Weekday.
En sinds & Other Stories dit najaar (eindelijk) een winkel opend in Amsterdam heb ik eens goed rondgekeken in de winkel in Regent street in Londen. Heel clean, heel sophisticated, heel cool!

Brixton / Brick Lane market
Want to feel like a true Londoner? Visit one of the many local markets in the weekends. Here you can shop for cool one-of-a-kind-items, find good bargains, lovely food from all around the world and shop for fresh groceries. I visited two: Brixton market and Brick lane market.
Brixton market is vibrant on Saturdays.
This is the place you can experience some of that African/Caribbean vibe!
Brick Lane is a true vintage/flea market feast! Go there on Sundays when its busy and the vibe is nice. Here you can find loads of good food, little art shops, and cool vintage items.

Wil je je als een echte Londenaar voelen? Bezoek een van de vele lokale markten in het weekend. Hier kun je shoppen voor one-of-a-kind items, vind je nog echte koopjes, kun je lekker eten, en je verse boodschappen kopen. Ik heb er twee bezocht: Brixton market en Brick Lane market.
Brixton market is leuk op de zaterdagen wanneer het er het drukst is.
Dit is de plek waar je de sfeer van het Afrikaanse/Caraïbische leven kunt meemaken!
Birck Lane is een echt vintage/vlooienmarkt feest! Ga er naartoe op een zondag wanneer het er lekker druk en gezellig is. Hier kun je heel veel lekker eten vinden, kleine art winkeltjes en coole tweedehands items.
